What "tested in production" means
Every tool on this site gets used in a real codebase by engineers who've shipped products. We don't review tools from demos, free trials, or sponsored access. Minimum evaluation period: 30 days of daily use.
What we don't do
We don't accept "review units," sponsored posts, or tool credits in exchange for coverage. Affiliate relationships are disclosed per tool. They have never — and will never — influence a ranking.
Who we are
A small team of engineers with backgrounds in backend systems, DevOps, and product engineering. We've worked at companies ranging from 10-person startups to 5,000-person orgs, so we try to cover what matters at different scales.
- 30-day minimum No snap judgments. We use tools long enough for the initial novelty to wear off and for real workflow friction to surface.
- Benchmarks over vibes Where measurable, we measure. Completion latency, build times, memory usage, failure rates — data over anecdotes.
- Honest about the bad Every "winner" gets a criticism section. If we can't name something a tool is genuinely bad at, we haven't tested it long enough.
- Updated, not archived Tools evolve. We update reviews when major versions ship, note the date of last re-test, and flag when a recommendation changes.
- Real codebases Evaluations happen on actual production or near-production projects — not toy apps built for the review.
